The G1 test is a knowledge test that all drivers in Ontario must pass. The test is split into two parts (rules of the road - 20 questions; road signs - 20 questions) and you must get at least 16 questions correct in each part in order to pass.
The test can be taken at Drive Test locations and is administered in over 20 languages. When you pass the G1, you are given a temporary driving permit (which expires in 90 days) until your G1 license is mailed to you.
If you are a new driver, you have to drive with the G1 for at least 12 months (8 months if you attend driving school) - and strict rules apply to this licensing stage - before you can take the G2 road test.

Passing the G1
The trick to passing the G1 is to study The Official Ministry of Transportation Driver's Handbook and to run through practice questions. Below, we have linked in the official handbook and other online resources that will help you study for and pass the test.
Good luck!
