"There are many jobs in Canada, you just have to decide to do what you've gotta do."
Coming to Canada as an educated, young, immigrant with lots of experience in your field, you might think getting a job (in your field) will be a breeze.
That is not always the case.
Canadian employers will often choose applicants with Canadian education and experience before they will consider an applicant without these qualities.
Recruitment Agencies
Recruitment agencies like Randstad.ca help workers find labourer/factory associate jobs, as well as admin jobs that often pay between $15-20/hour. These recruitment agencies often pay weekly, which means that, after tax, you have the money needed to keep the lights on as you settle in and possibly find jobs better suited to your qualifications.
Co-Op Programs
The Canadian government funds Co-Operative Programs that help immigrants find jobs in their fields. These courses usually run for about three months and include a few weeks in a classroom setting and then finish off with the opportunity for an unpaid placement/internship.
