The government of Canada is possibly one of the most altruistic in the world (perhaps taxpayers will beg to differ).
In Canada, the types of benefits and the amount paid to families differ from province to province.
Canada Child Benefit
The Canada child benefit (CCB) is administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). It is a tax-free monthly payment made to eligible families to help with the cost of raising children under the age of 18.

GST/HST Credit
The goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) credit is a tax-free quarterly payment that helps individuals and families with low incomes offset the GST or HST that they pay.

Provincial & Territorial Benefits
Depending on the province you live in, the government disburses funds to family. Find out more here.
